Hubert Wińczyk

Hubert Wińczyk is studying at University of Arts in Poznań.

During a performance I have at my disposal my body and voice, as well as their/my basic impulses, the given/chosen space and a few physical or phonic objects. Even a moment before I begin I am not completely sure what I am going to do, and especially – what it means. Of course, I have intentionally packed and brought certain objects, cassettes and recordings, but the relationships they will come into emerge from the depths of myself “here and now.”
I am interested in movement and how it influences perception and, in turn, how perception affects the work of the mind.
My work with performance art is close to my practice in the field of music and the art of sound. However, when employing sound in a performance, apart from its sonic qualities I highlight the very process of producing it as well as the symbolic aspect it may have.
Quite often the starting point is a personal matter; thus, the objects, sounds and gestures I use do not appear solely for aesthetic reasons. Still, their particular origins needn’t be known by the viewer. As we create a space of mutual focus, we can touch something universal.
