Born 1979
Studied humanities and art in several universities in Japan and England. She is a PhD student at the National University of Fine Arts in Tokyo; her work being focused on media art. Participated in numerous performance festivals, for example: Open Art Festival in China and Asiatopia in Thailand. Born in Beijing, as a child moved to Japan where she experienced cultural denial and assimilation. These experiences stimulated her academic and artistic exploration of the economic, social and cultural transformation. Performance is her way of discovering hidden semiotics of body/identity transformation under the influence of modernisation. Through socially involved art and performance, she seeks to overcome the stereotype understanding of cultural boundaries.
