Born 1985, Colombia
Reinel Aicardo Arango Muñoz has graduated Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia and he is studying Theatre and Live Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota.
The body which is sometimes mute and sometimes cries; which can be seen from above or below; the body that sweats, the body that smells, the body that hurts. That body is mine.
There are three concepts that run through my work: time, repetition and meaningless. Time in search of physical wear, of forgetting oneself in order to create an event. Repetition, not in the sense of sameness, but difference; and nonsense – as the multiplicity of possible meanings.
I am interested in addressing public spaces and in activating space through the body. When removing an artwork from a safe place such as galleries and museums, the idea of art falls, and the relationship between art and life is created.
I primarily work with performance, but I also explore the links with other media, such as sound, video and activation of space.
